When Carissa decided to start out on her own, she saw a real need to help young first home buyers in small WA towns. Usually with lower incomes and limited capacity to save big deposits they needed guidance on which banks to use and then help to transfer to more mainstream funders when they were able.
Helping them get into their first homes and then guiding them through their home ownership years, we have been able to help so many first home buyers. Carissa also saw the big gap in the rural residence market, brokers she knew didn't understand the policy restrictions bank to bank about things like property size, location and purpose and buyers were regularly disappointed with negative outcomes. She wanted to be the lender people turned to in order to find the right bank for not only the client but the right bank for the property they were trying to purchase.
Hi. I’m Carissa
I became a broker because as a single mum juggling school drop offs and pick ups alone was too tough working part time at the bank. The kids couldn't do after school sports and I was saving my pennies for vacation care so that I could work while they had holidays. I didn't want to miss the assemblies and sport days so I took the leap to becoming my own boss.
And, when I took on my first employee, I decided that flexibility for family was the most important things I would offer my staff. Striving to make the work fit around the family is our number one priority.
additionally, helping people navigate the commitment of a mortgage or making their lifestyle dreams come true when they buy a boat, new car or even a tractor is incredibly fulfilling. I want to partner with my clients for their finance journey. I like knowing every person I have helped and don't intend on becoming a big corporate company, ever. I get excited when I see my young couples have their first baby or when they renovate an old house they bought because that's what they could afford. No purchase is too small for us to help with and in fact the small little country town purchases have long been my favourite housing loan to write.
